Well, I made it. After so many years talking about it, I actually realised my own music album and launched it at it's own event. Murphy's Barn on the new line road, Wexford is a unique event location that has been under the radar for a while, an old barn transformed into a tasty little event venue perched on the new line road looking down towards the coastal saltee islands, all within close proximity to my hometown village.
An 8pm sharp start, the sun was on its way down leaving a dusky light, candles & lanterns lit the doorway and entrance as cars started to pour into the carpark. A quick organisation of our musicians on the night which included, Cornerboy team, former tinwhistle and piano teachers, Stasia Redmond & Donagh Wylde respectively, percussionist Wayne Hayes, Bodhran beast Kevin Cogley, Brass Maestro Anthony Nolan & a guest vocal from local superstar Emily Jane Furlong. As my family and relations ensured everyone had a drink in their hand the show began to come to starting position.
What a night, I didn't know how it would all go off but it went better than I expected and the feedback of the entertainment value of the night was astounding. I haven't been to many album launch gigs but I cant expect too many contained the diversity that was on show that night. Solo performances from myself with harmonica, full band or reggae pop songs & Irish classics, right through to full electronic cinematic productions right through to a novelty song written about race horses, they didn't know what was coming next! Further to that, our half time raffle on the night, raised 509 euro for our local mental health counselling service "It's good to talk".
What a truly memorable night and I can also say that my albums are moving fast too!!!
