A few friends brought up the "Black Door" a swanky late bar/nightclub on the pumping Hardcourt street of Dublin city centre. They have live solo piano entertainers on a regular basis and felt as though it would suit me. So I managed to track down a Friday slot after meeting up with the events manager.
I have done piano gigs before, but in terms of social status, this was the biggest and I knew you really only get one chance in Dublin centre, don't cut the mustard mate yer out! It went well overall, with a stint from 9:30 - 12:30. Renowned for being a late bar, the start of the night was very quiet which involved serenading a few couples that sat down for a quite glass, however the latter part of the performance was a bubbling frenzy, with a mixed, well dressed crowd, priming themselves for the more boisterous night ahead. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was a good test of delivering quiet acoustic stuff to romping high energy piano classics.
Hopefully you will see me in another slot there soon.
Thanks to Annmarie, Sarah, Conor, Paddy & Jamie for stopping by on the first night :-)
