Is this really worth a blog post?! No it ain't about an actual Viking, merely implying that the Viking has been lost within me. I got rid of the 2 month grown red beard in a dodgy barber shop in New Delhi.
As my good friend Redmond Barry said; "traveling allows you to do those ridiculous things you couldn't do at home for fear of abuse from your mates", I couldn't agree more, I don't care too much what they think anyway but sometimes the hassle just isn't worth it!
It was only a matter of time before I got rid of it, sure it's manly and makes me look fierce, but unless I'm living in the mountains or am part of the Hells Angel's motorbike gang then it can look ridiculous at times. It gets itchy, half the food gets stuck in it and it sure as hell ain't gonna get Halle Berry to give me a kiss, so its gotta go. The barber place had no shop front and was located behind somebody's home on a side street corner. I hadn't much time until my departure to the airport so I had to act quick. It was a family affair, the son doing the hair cutting (not that there's much!) and the father doing the shaving part. It was obvious the son hadn't done much and was inexperienced, but he had a cutting technique and took plenty of care and patience. His father waited and watched his son patiently. He was proud as punch that they both could work in tandem in making sure that his son was doing a good job and that I was satisfied. After the hair cut, the "razor dad" stepped up and whipped out the old style blade. It was a very smooth cut indeed and when I think of what I paid them in converted Rupee, it's prob cheaper to get this done ya know when needed rather than splash out for those expensive Gillette Mach 3 razors, fact!!!
